Basin Sediments Geometry and Strength as Controls for Post?Failure Emplacement Style of Alpine Sub?Lacustrine Landslides

چکیده

Predicting the evolution of underwater mass movements in their post-failure stage is vital for risk assessment offshore structures and ensuring safety coastal communities threatened by tsunami waves. In absence sedimentological geotechnical data, variability behavior a specific marine or lacustrine setting often attributed to predisposition factors such as slope height-drop depth basal shear surface. this paper, contribution other geometrical parameters inclination relative thickness frontal basin sediments investigated using coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian finite element framework. An emphasis given important role strength difference between sediments. The suggested framework first validated against well-documented Zinnen slide Lake Lucerne (Switzerland), successfully reproducing geometry capturing main features observed published seismic profiles. It then applied parametric study illustrate decisive determining wasting similar settings.

this thesis attempts to measure learning styles, self efficacy and intrinsic motivation as predictors of iranian ielts reading comprehension. in order to address this issue, a quantitative study was conducted on some randomly selected intact students at ferdowsi university. these two groups were assigned as they were undergraduate (ba=91) and graduate (ma =74) students; they were all aged betwe...

Morphology and geometry of Valles Marineris landslides

The walls of the Valles Marineris canyons are affected by about 45 landslides. The study of these landslides provides a test of the hypothesis of processes having affected Martian wallslopes after their formation. The dynamics of Valles Marineris landslides are controversial : either the landslides are interpreted as large debris flows or as dry rock avalanches. Their morphology and their topog...

Controls on arsenic speciation and solid-phase partitioning in the sediments of a two-basin lake.

Arsenic (As) regeneration from sediments of Spy Pond, a two-basin lake near Boston, MA, continues to result in seasonally elevated As levels despite the several decades that have elapsed since the pond's historical contamination by a pulse input of As. Solid-phase speciation and partitioning of As in the sediments appear to be primary determinants of both potential As regeneration rate and, con...

Trunk Strength Characteristics of Elite Alpine Skiers - a Comparison with Physically Active Controls

Core muscle imbalances and weak trunk strength are relevant for injury prevention and performance. Information regarding core strength requirements and ideal flexion/extension ratios in alpine skiing is limited. We aimed to compare trunk strength capacities in elite alpine skiers with those of a matched control group. The concentric maximal trunk flexion and extension of 109 elite skiers and 47...
